Solidarity with CUPE 2722

Staff Members at Oxfam (CUPE 2722) are fighting for a fair deal.

The Unifor 567 Executive Board passed a motion to sign onto CUPE 2722’s Open Letter to OXFAM’s bargaining team. Unifor 567 Members are encouraged to sign the letter as well.

CUPE 2722 has been without a new contract since April 1, 2025. These workers have been engaged in negotiations for many months, but despite their commitment and dedication to OXFAMs mission of fighting inequality and patriarchy to end poverty and injustice, they are facing roadblocks and the organization refuses to move on key issues that reflect not just fair compensation, but feminist principles they claim to support.

CUPE 2722 members are standing up for their values by fighting against concessions and for inclusive and compassionate workplace protections, including leaves for transgender affirming care, added supports for victims of domestic or sexual violence, and an expanded definition on the concept of family for those who need to access family-based leave. They are also seeking for the employer to honor the parties existing collective agreement right to cost of living adjustments (COLA).

As the Local moves into conciliation and prepares to escalate actions, the Unifor 567 Executive Board stands in full support of the CUPE 2722’s bargaining committee and call on OXFAM Canada to live up to its stated values and work in good faith to reach a fair agreement that respects the dignity, safety, and well-being of all workers.

At the bargaining table, Local 2722 is practicing internally what they promote externally and simply wants the Employer to do the same.
